Show Your Strength

When Brook Peters set out to make his film about living through 9/11 as a child, he didn’t realize THE SECOND DAY would convey a universal story of inner strength and resilience that could inspire people around the world. In response to Brook’s Show Your Strength Campaign, over 150 young people submitted their personal stories of courage and hope. And the band Simple Plan supported the campaign by offering their song “What If”.

Award-winning Canadian rock band Simple Plan supported the Show Your Strength Campaign to inspire youth across the globe. “I approached Simple Plan to use the song What If  as the soundtrack to the Show Your Strength video because I feel it makes listeners question what they can do to change themselves and, in turn, help to change the world,” said Brook Peters.

I have a tattoo of this quote on my foot to remind myself that I can’t let others define me. I need to remember that I am strong enough to decide my own future, and if I believe in myself, and stop doubting myself, I can achieve anything I set my mind to.

I thought everyone telling me I had no talent during high school really meant I had no talent. I was to afraid of telling them to stop. Finally, with a little help, I knew what to do to stand up to them all and tell them what they were doing was wrong, so I got up on stage and belted out a lead in the school show. After that they finally stopped, and I graduated happier then I had ever been.

I think that sometimes bad things happen and that they can really hurt. The only way to move on is to move forward one day at a time, and keep in mind that while life will continue with its ups and downs, the blows that you are dealt make you stronger and make future hurt easier to deal with: life gets easier 🙂
