When Brook Peters set out to make his film about living through 9/11 as a child, he didn’t realize THE SECOND DAY would convey a universal story of inner strength and resilience that could inspire people around the world. In response to Brook’s Show Your Strength Campaign, over 150 young people submitted their personal stories of courage and hope. And the band Simple Plan supported the campaign by offering their song “What If”.

Award-winning Canadian rock band Simple Plan supported the Show Your Strength Campaign to inspire youth across the globe. “I approached Simple Plan to use the song What If as the soundtrack to the Show Your Strength video because I feel it makes listeners question what they can do to change themselves and, in turn, help to change the world,” said Brook Peters.

I am a huge Simple Plan fan living in South Africa. I have a twin sister which can be a lot of fun but also quite hard when you’re the ugly duckling. My sister always has been the more outgoing, popular one. I never felt good enough and I used to cry every night. Now, I have found the CONFIDENCE in me. I except the fact that she will sometimes be liked more by others and I will too. We are different people and Simple Plan helped me gain the CONFIDENCE I needed. Now, I am doing much better and whenever I get down, I know I just have to get right back up and find that CONFIDENCE in me. I will continue to be strong.

Too many people hate who they are and don’t treat themselves well. They put themselves down and are disappointed with who they are. We all just need to love ourselves a little bit more. <3
